Shop Manager

General Description: 

The Shop Manager is responsible for daily operations of the Yard, including leading and delegating to direct reports to accurately fill orders for equipment, tools, formwork, and materials for use by our own field operations and outside customers.  The Shop Manager must ensure that each order is promptly and accurately fulfilled and prepared for pick up or delivery.  The Shop Manager contributes to the safety, quality and productivity of our projects. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Safely, accurately, and efficiently process all orders and prepare for shipping by acquiring the necessary materials, tools, etc. from company inventory and rectifying any shortages or discrepancies in a timely manner 
  • Enforce yard safety protocols and conduct regular safety inspections 
  • Properly maintain all equipment and tools to ensure that they are in safe and reliable working condition 
  • Run a preventive maintenance program with documented service records and DOT inspections for trucks and trailers 
  • Properly maintain a clean and effective work area in the Yard, storing materials and equipment in their respective areas 
  • Effectively use company systems and technology to track materials and equipment coming into and leaving the Yard 
  • Track levels of inventoried materials and initiate restocking as necessary 
  • Coordinate equipment and material moves for mobilization and demobilization of job sites 
  • Schedule and dispatch equipment, coordinating deliveries with drivers and outside haulers 
  • Order materials and negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure best value 
  • Communicate frequently with foremen and project managers to anticipate project needs 


Requirements: 

  • 3+ Years Commercial Concrete experience 
  • Previous use of concrete tools, equipment and machines 
  • Current valid driver’s license & transportation 
  • Pre-employment drug screen 
  • Ability to work off-shift hours and overtime as required 
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. 
  • Able to work at heights multiple levels above ground 
  • CDL license a plus
