Place and Finish Superintendent

General Description: 

The Place and Finish Superintendent will schedule, organize, and supervise multiple pour crews to meet strict FF/FL and paving tolerances.  Serving as liaison between the project management team, operations team, and our finishing crews, this position includes complete ownership of the quality and production of our floors and site concrete. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Organize and supervise multiple place and finish crews 
  • Train and develop finishers toward ACI Flatwork Finisher certification 
  • Develop and execute plans for all pours 
  • Communicate with the Field staff and Operations team to go over full details of project cost, manpower, equipment, and scheduling 
  • Ensure quality control of all concrete being poured, including manipulation of the mix design, when needed 
  • Coordinate with ready-mix suppliers on delivery rates, mix designs, and admixture adjustments 
  • Ensure the safety of crew members by following OSHA and safety guidelines 
  • Lead pre-pour meetings and complete pre-pour checklists with GC sign-off before placement 
  • Develop weekly and monthly lookahead schedules for pours and manpower 
  • Verify and document floor flatness (FF/FL) results and ensure curing and sealing meet specifications 
  • Schedule pumps and concrete placement logistics for floors and pavement 
  • Lead recruiting, hiring, and development of place and finish crew members 
  • Track labor productivity and cost-to-complete against budget 


Requirements: 

  • At least 5 years of experience supervising crews that pour large floors and pave 
  • Familiarity with riding trowel machines and the techniques of finishing a flat floor 
  • Control mixer trucks, pace, and correct concrete quantities 
  • Ability to organize all equipment, materials, and tools and forecast future requirements 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot drawings 
  • Ability to accurately calculate stone, concrete, and material quantities 
  • Current valid driver’s license and pre-employment drug screen 
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred 
  • ACI Concrete Flatwork Finisher certification a plus 
  • Availability for early-morning and occasional night pours
